ADA/Braille Signs
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 set guidelines to follow concerning signage used in
government and public buildings. ADA signage is required to identify permanent areas such as
restrooms, entrances, exits and more areas within facilities. ADA signs include letters and braille that
are prominently raised from the signs surface. For detailed guidelines and information please refer to
the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, sections *216 and *703 concerning signs and labels
for public facilities. *Other sections may also reference ADA relevant signage. (See www.ada.gov) |
